Close up shot of two figures show manipulation because Chas dominates most of space within the shot while laughing about how his lie is helping him with his relationship with Etheline.
Overall Analysis
The sequence of shots shows how Wes Anderson uses camera angles, objects and the position of characters within his shots to portray the theme of Manipulation. Ultimately Gene fails to redeem his relationship with his family and Anderson uses various techniques to allude to this.
